Hey Babes! Welcome to Windrow Photography! I'm a mom and photographer from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and I LOVE nearly every minute of it. I'm constantly in awe of my little humans and all the spice that they bring to my life. Being a girl mom is the bomb and I so appreciate how photography lets me build a business and feel smart while in the trenches of parenthood. My girls are my Why for nearly everything I do. Why I wake up in the morning, Why I work so hard, Why I drink... Just kidding! Kinda. But honestly, they are my whole heart, and they make it all worthwhile.
Having my second daughter in 2022 saw me living my best life as a stay at home mom but I still wanted to contribute, thus birthing Windrow Photography. An avenue for me to be creative and also maintain some semblance of an adult life. Amidst the chaos that is 3 girls and 4 dogs you'll find me often puttering away at/slash roping my poor hubby into the latest home improvement project. I'm also doing my best to turn the place into a hobby farm with my aspirations of being a crazy chicken lady. Which I justify but holding Easter photos with said chickens each spring.
People are my passion so nearly all my favorite pastimes include my favorite people. We're always hosting, whether it's fight nights, hockey games, or a Christmas pajama party. You're always welcome to come grab a bite to eat, lounge around the campfire and join a game of cards or BFL. These days it's leaning a little more into the playdate realm but that's what the pool is for. I aspire to be a "The coffee's always on" person and to always have an abundance of snacks to share. (Definitely my love language.)
Why I Love Photography
This opportunity has opened so many doors for me mentally, physically, and emotionally. I think being a mom has made me look at photography completely different. I feel a passion for making sure that the big moments as well as the small are documented, because in the long run, none are insignificant. We grew up in the time of the photo album and I spent hours of my life combing through pages, laughing at the antics and hair and outfits. And as I've lost people in my life or watched others enter into new phases, it is so comforting to be able to look back and see who they were, preserved for all time.
Personally I want to be able to look back when I'm in my 80's and see who my friends were as a teenager, what I looked like when I brought my first baby home, and to see the joy and the chaos as I'm in my kitchen surrounded by the people and critters that I love most. I want to be that 80 year old Grandma with portraits lining the walls of all the people she holds dear from the course of decades, the same way my Gramma did. The proof of a full life.
And what I want from my photos is to give everyone else those memories. I want to capture you in your nursery with your first baby. So when you look back you can remember the wonder and newness as you experienced the sleepless nights and first smiles. How every new day felt like a milestone, because truly, they change so fast.
I want to capture you with your growing family. All the different people at all their different stages. I want you to be taken on a trip through the years of your life as you walk down your hall. Seeing all the different versions of the people you love today. To be able to recognize the things you see now that were in them all along.
Being able to freeze moments in time to take with us through the centuries is one of the greatest inventions ever created. It will never stop being an honor for me to be part of lasting legacy.
